BUILDING BETTER TOGETHER
Typically, landlords buy properties and set rents as high as possible in order to net a certain “yield”. Whilst Castorea is still a firm with money as a means of success, we want to ensure that those we deal with are not exploited.
Castorea
ABOUT US
We want not only to be a property investment company, but we really want to develop relationships that are healthy and beneficial on all sides. This would include between landlord and tenant, and also Castorea and potential investors. We are not looking to grow through exploitation of tenants in order to provide profits to potential investors, but rather prefer to have ESG focused investors help improve peoples lives, starting with property.
THOMAS FROST
Tom is a co-founder of Castorea Property. He founded it with his younger brother, with the aim of bettering the housing market, not only in terms of physical quality, but also with regards to morality. He wants to improve the quality of people’s lives and ensure that he can grow the company without exploitation of his tenants. He also wants to use this opportunity to be at the forefront of green technology in properties, looking at the benefit on the planet alongside the benefit to the investors.
Tom is a 24-year-old economics graduate. With roots in the UK and Slovakia, he has managed to gain exposure to a variety of cultures, people and environments, all of which have helped make him a broad thinking, motivated individual. He started working for his father’s company in his early teens, and so has gained valuable knowledge on the employment market, and also what it takes to grow a successful company. He rowed for more than a decade in both the UK and Switzerland, which instilled him with discipline, motivation and great communication skills.
Through his wide travels, deep understanding of economics, and the fact that he has matured during some of the toughest economic conditions in recent history, Tom has decided that he wants to do more than simply become a property investor. Rather, he wants to invest in people, whilst simultaneously improving the living conditions of those who are fortunate enough to live in one of his properties.
SAMUEL FROST
Samuel is a co-founder of Castorea Property. He has a BSc in Economics and Finance from the University of Sussex, where he has gained a solid grasp of the world that we live in. Through his enrolment in the course, he has managed to see the shortcoming of today’s teachings and has understood the essential nature of building a substantial asset base in today’s ever changing and ever more volatile economy.
Samuel, like his brother, has learned many of the fundamentals to running a business through the long and turbulent participation in his father’s business from a young age. He has also had the benefit of observing the very successful team at Domo Developments, from which he has gained an invaluable understanding of the property development market. As a result of his large but relatively early exposure to the business world, he understands well that in order for you and the people around you to succeed, you must be confident; and confidence comes from a full understanding of your passion and continuous hard work.
Meaning behind Castorea?
Castorea is Latin for Beaver, and this really embodies what we, as a company, want to be known as.
The beaver is known to work in groups and establish relationships in order to work together, build incredible structures, and change the environment within which they live, leading to a new home for themselves, but also for other creatures. In this way, Castorea aim work together and establish relationships, both on the investment side, but also with tenants in the property side. Through this, we aim to disrupt the standard property environment, and create a new landscape in which people invest in people, and for their wellbeing, as opposed to simply wanting to see a certain fiscal return on their investments.

How do we operate
Typically, landlords buy properties and set rents as high as possible in order to net a certain “yield”. Whilst Castorea is still a firm with money as a means of success, we want to ensure that those we deal with are not exploited. This would mean creating nice homes that are well maintained, charging rents that are not extortionate, especially when there are energy and cost-of-living crises.
We at Castorea believe that no one should ever live in fear of not having a home to live in at the end of the month simply because of money. In order to achieve this, we aim to seek investors that have the same desires of improving peoples lives, and whilst we of course want to ensure good returns for them, we also want to give them the return of satisfaction with the positive impact on peoples lives that they help secure.
Invest
Castorea is looking for investors to help us secure a portfolio of properties that will help us achieve our aim for creating high quality and sustainable housing. Whilst we accept that investors do desire certain yields on their investments, we are also looking to meet the needs of ESG focussed investors that may want things other than yield. This can be done through two means:
- Investing for certain projects.
- Investing for a certain time period where the money may be rolled over and used multiple times.
ESG
Castorea does not want to be another large property company that aims to make as much money at the expense of its homeowners and also the expense of the environment within which it is set. Keeping with this, we desire to create houses that not only become someone’s home, but that do so in a way that positively impacts the world around it.
We want to bring modern technology to the forefront of each property. This can range from solar panels and water-tanks to triple glazing and modern boilers. Whilst each step may only appear small, enough of them can take you somewhere better.
As we grow, we will look to retain as much of the society in which we operate. This means giving everyone as much as we can, from gardens, so safe spaces. We won’t become a company that builds thousands of properties for the sake of it, instead we want communities to remain close, and encourage people to live wherever they want.
